The Maids Columbus • Oct 28, 2014

Food stains? Grease? Dirt? Don't despair! There are a number of natural stain removers sitting in your kitchen cupboards that will quickly rectify the problem. Here are some natural cleaning products that you can use to remove even the most stubborn of stains.

Vinegar

Vinegar is one of the most popular natural cleaners, and what's better, most people have a bottle lying around in their cupboard.

  • Not only does vinegar help to remove stubborn stains, it's actually gentle on the majority of fabrics. In fact, it won't cause any damage if left on for a prolonged period of time.
  • Vinegar can help kill bacteria and germs, and doesn't irritate the skin - making it an effective natural cleaner that can be used around the home.
  • Vinegar is extremely effective at clearing blocked sinks. Remember - the smell of vinegar can sometimes be overwhelming, so always remove any stains before guests are due to visit your home!

Baking soda

Like vinegar, baking soda is another ingredient that has many uses, and you probably have some in your kitchen somewhere.

  • Known for its abrasive quality, baking soda can deodorize naturally, and is extremely effective in removing a wide range of stains.
  • Baking soda can also be mixed with vinegar to remove many stains around the home. Mix the two together and leave it on the stain for around 30 minutes before blotting it up. The mixture will remove enzymes and eliminate stains.

Rubbing alcohol

Rubbing alcohol can be used to remove household stains such as food stains and pen ink. It can also be used to remove grease from surfaces.

  • To use rubbing alcohol, apply it to the stain directly and then leave it to set. You should notice that the stain begins to fade after a prolonged period of time.
  • Rubbing alcohol can be used to remove stubborn stains on carpets, rugs, and furniture items around the home.

If you are still having trouble with stains after trying these, call on the expertise of The Maids in Columbus to remove those stubborn stains.
