Easy Ways to Avoid Mold Problems on Your Baby’s Toys
The Maids Columbus • Nov 14, 2014

Mold problems on baby toys are unsanitary but can also be very dangerous for your baby’s health. The best way for you to stop mold growth is to find ways to prevent it. Here are some ways you can prevent mold problems on your baby toys:

Dry Toys Well Before You Store Them

Babies and toddlers love to put their toys in their mouths, causing them to often be covered in drool. They also love to take toys into the bathtub. Both situations can leave the toys as a potential breeding ground for mold. To avoid the development of mold, you should try and dry the toys before storing them. You can easily dry the toys with a towel or use a hair dryer to dry them.

Keep Toys in Dry Areas When Not In Use

When your children are done playing with their toys, you should try and keep them in a dry place. This will avoid cases where the toys will come into contact with moisture, which assists in the development of mold.

If Mold Does Attack Your Baby’s Toys

While you do everything to prevent mold, it may still occur. And if it does, you need to be prepared for it. Soaking affected toys in a mixture of bleach and water for at least a few hours, at a ratio of 1 part bleach to 10 parts water, should kill the mold. If necessary, you may need to scrub affected areas of the toy with a small scrub brush. If all else fails, you may have to discard toys and purchase new ones.

And while you are busy keeping you little ones safe, let The Maids of Columbus, Ohio assist your with all your house cleaning needs.
