Five Spring Cleaning Tips From Maid Service Experts
The Maids Columbus • Apr 06, 2012

The days get longer and warmer each week, and if you’re like me, you’re regretting the spring cleaning you haven’t finished. It’s time to become an organizer and take back that house—to stop being frustrated with it and start cleaning it.

The sooner your house is clean, the sooner you can get back to enjoying your spring and summer!

With that in mind, here are five tips on house cleaning and how to get organized from our maid service experts!

1. Create a manageable to do list. Don’t overwhelm yourself with housekeeping tasks. Instead, break each thing you want to do into steps, and spread those goals out over several days. Setting a goal and achieving it will make you feel victorious and help find and keep your motivation.

2. Start with one area. Build on your success by organizing in one area at a time. By starting small, you will see immediate results that will spur you on to do more!

3. Give your family members specific tasks. If your family members go running in the opposite direction when you suggest cleaning, keep in mind they are more likely to help if they can focus on one task. For example, ask your spouse to sort mail once a week, or ask your son or daughter to put away folded clothes or sweep the kitchen every few days.

4. Set a time limit for keeping items. Have you found a bottle of lotion you haven’t seen in six months? Or a coffee cup still in its original gift bag? If you haven’t seen something in a while, ask yourself if you have actually missed it. If not, throw it away or donate it to charity.

5. Ask for help. Sometimes life is busy, especially as we close in on the summer months. If you find that house cleaning is taking away from quality time with your friends and family, consider hiring a maid service to help you catch up. The Maids has a trustworthy staff fully trained in many cleaning services standing by and ready to help.

Good luck in all of your organization and cleaning endeavors!
