Quick, Easy Decorating Tips

Sometimes, you want a burst of something fresh in your décor without putting in hours and hours of remodeling or renovation time. That’s understandable, and thankfully, there are a lot of things you can do that will give just enough of what you want without taking a lot of time.

First of all, a clean house goes a long way in making you feel like your home is fresh, so if you don't have time to clean well, hire maid services. Once the house is clean, the key is in the details: changing up the details and accents in a room can give the entire space a brand new feel. Try these if you aren’t sure what you can change in your house:

1. Add a Mirror. Mirrors are becoming more and more common in home décor, and with good reason. They instantly provide more light, depth, and interest to a space. They make great pieces of wall art and accompany things from dressers to kitchen tables effectively.

As you choose your mirror, look for one with a frame that fits your space. Do you want something dark and ornate? Something Victorian? Or maybe something on the simple, modern side—choose your frame and mirror shape based on the décor of the room in which you will be putting it.

2. Change Your Lampshades. Talk about a quick fix! This one can make a pretty big impact in no time, and there are several options for how to handle it. Either way, though; go for a color and style that is brand new but still works in the space.

When it comes to new lampshades, you can either by yours brand new or you can update the ones you have. How? Fabric is the easiest way! A bit of fabric that works in your space, a hot glue gun, and a bit of ribbon for trim, and you can have customized lampshades.

3. A Little Paint. Rather than paint a whole room, what if you just paid one door? One piece of furniture? One wall? Accent colors and vibrant accessories are a great way to bring some new life to old décor, and when you’re only painting a small portion, it takes very little time.

If you don’t have a lot of time, interior doors are a quick way to work in a new color, especially since many homeowners don’t pain them!
